Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel - Fashion Icon

From her first millinery shop, opened in 1912, to the 1920s, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel rose to become one of the premier fashion designers in Paris, France. Replacing the corset with comfort and casual elegance, her fashion themes included simple suits and dresses, women's trousers, costume jewelry, perfume and textiles.

Coco Chanel introduced her signature cardigan jacket in 1925 and signature "little black dress" in 1926. Most of her fashions had a staying power, and didn't change much from year to year -- or even generation to generation.

Gabrielle Chanel left the world with a legacy of wise and witty quotes.  As well as where to wear your perfume and the difficulties of wearing a LBD, Mademoiselle Chanel imparted her thoughts on fashion versus style, work, men and destiny.  Here, there is a selection of my favourite quotes from fashion's Grand Dame.

   She created a new look for women in the 20th century, creating clothes that were primarily comfortable. A Chanel suit of 1923 or handbag is still seen as a landmark purchase for women of increasingly younger ages.

Coco Chanel's bobbed hair, bright red lips and outspoken manner also broke the mould.

The Chanel No.5 scent is the best selling in the world. Keira Knightley followed Kate Moss as the new face of Coco Mademoiselle in 2007. The brand could not be more alive with watches, beauty, fragrance, women’s wear and new stores.

In 2009 a biopic film based on her life titled 'Coco before Chanel' was released. Audrey Tatou was given the lead-role and follows as she goes from orphan to Haute Couture designer.

 

Coco Chanel has been putting out some witty marketing techniques. For example, take a look at this particular marketing scheme of blatantly replacing Mcdonald’s french fries and hamburger boxes with Coco Chanel’s own, and not to mention the fact of sticking in that equally witty quote by Karl Lagerfeld.

In a time when everything moves faster and faster we just forget how to live and to be thankful for all we have.. we are caught in this world of continuous change and we don’t cherish anymore the people that are next to us and the little things that make our lives better..  so Valentine’s Day is a day to express our love, and to celebrate the spirit of love..  is a day when we can remember the people that we love and appreciate.. it’s a day when we receive and give gifts, we say “I love you”  and we forget about all the bad things and all the troubles in our lives.. who doesn’t  love all the gifts, the flowers, the heart-shaped candies and the pretty cards!?!!..

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be one day a year (it can be everyday), but if our lives are too complicated and we don’t have time for nothing, this holiday  can be a good opportunity to say the one we love how much they mean to us.

The Perfect Cup of Coffee

Coffee is one of the most popular drinks consumed by people from all over the world.  It seems to have that distinct aroma and taste that most people like. This is probably the reason why coffee has become a worldwide favorite. Coffee, in its different incarnations, is being enjoyed by people from all walks of life, gender in even the farthest regions of the world.

Beans.. Instant.. Mocha.. Espresso.. Americano.. Cafe latte.. Cappuccino.. Macchiato.. Decaf.. Black or white.. with cinnamon and chocolate mint creamer.... It’s divine..

  I am a huge coffee fun.. My morning  wake-up coffee is black coffee with creamy milk.......mmmmm.. On a regular day Latte in the morning and  Cappuccino in the afternoon.. Frapuccino ♥ specially for Sunny and hot days... What's yours?

Finally, you must remember the most important thing: one cup coffee makers are all different, better or worse, this or that characteristics, one or another manufacturer, red or stainless steel… But at the end of the day, or in this case probably at the beggining, I hope you found one right for you, one that makes YOUR PERFECT CUP OF COFFEE.
